Getting your home ready for cockroach treatment
Cockroaches live in warm, tight spaces near food and water, mostly in kitchens and bathrooms. Clearing those spaces lets the technician place treatment where they hide. Please do these steps before the visit on [DATE].
Before the visit
- Empty the cabinets and drawers under and next to the kitchen sink and the bathroom sink. Put the items on a table or counter away from the walls.
- Store all food, including pet food, in sealed containers or the refrigerator.
- Wipe up crumbs and grease on counters, the stovetop and the floor.
- Take out the trash, and keep doing it every night.
- Clear clutter such as stacked paper bags, cardboard and newspapers, where cockroaches hide.
- Do not spray store-bought products before or after the visit; they can keep cockroaches away from the treatment.
On the day
Keep children and pets away from areas the technician treats until told it is safe. Do not wipe or wash treated cracks and edges.
After the treatment
You may see more cockroaches for a few days as the treatment works. Keep food sealed and trash out nightly, and tell the office if you still see them after the follow-up visit.
If you need help
If you cannot do any of these steps yourself because of age, disability, illness or anything else, tell the office before the visit. Help may be available. If you react to pesticides, tell the office too.
