"Extensive" in a unit (2, 4, 6)

At least one live cockroach, bed bug or mouse seen in two or more units, or in two or more rooms of a unit, during a daytime surface visual assessment. Severe, 24 hours.

"Extensive" inside the building

Live pests in two or more separate locations in the building. Moderate, 30 days (rats: Severe, 24 hours).

Rats (7, 8)

A live rat seen in a unit or inside the building is Severe, 24 hours. Outside, rat evidence is Moderate.

Traps (mice and rats)

A sticky pad or trap with a mouse or rat on it is recorded as a deficiency. An empty one is not.

Correction

HUD accepts starting an appropriate pest management plan as correction. Within the timeframe, document the plan's start date, servicing schedule, and methods of monitoring, managing and treatment (88 FR 40832, at 40836).

Not life-threatening

No infestation deficiency carries the Life-Threatening label. HCV units: every deficiency is Fail with 30 days to correct.
